MINDBODY FUSION
About
I first became interested in Mental Performance Training after watching my 14-year-old son struggle with his batting for over a year. During that time, I watched his self-confidence plummet, and his enjoyment of the sport wane. We took him to every coach, clinic, camp, etc to work on his swing, all to no avail.
I began to pay attention each time he walked up to the batter’s box, noticing how he spoke when he left the dugout, and his body language once he settled in to receive a pitch. I could hear him say to his teammates “here comes an automatic out”, or “here comes the strikeout king”. His shoulders were slumped and he walked dejectedly into the box, where he would inevitable meet his expectation. I knew there was more at play than just the mechanics of hitting. I began to research how I could help him, how to address the mental blocks that I believed were at the root of his slump. The information I found was exciting, innovative, and evidence based. After 2 months of working together on the mental aspect of his game and his particular blocks, he has improved his performance significantly enough to attain the highest batting average on his team, and most importantly regained his love of playing baseball.
